The Dimensions of Living: A HOUSE IS AN ANATOMY OF NEIGHBOURHOOD

High-rise buildings are everywhere in this dot on earth called Hong Kong. As suggested by Charles and Ray Eames's 'Powers of Ten', we may zoom in to see flats in a building as parts in a body. In this metaphor of anatomy, people are like cells whose daily movement as the circulation of blood, oxygen and nutrients, keeping the life of the city going. Each day, people come together, separate from, or even oppose each other, triggering a vibrant range of emotional energies, namely empathy, curiosity, prejudice and conflicts. Each night, this bodily building closes its eyes by turning off its light and rests in the lullaby of the neighbourhood.

I am an exhibitor of the JCCAC Festival 2020's feature exhibition.

‘Bare House’

757x376mm

Disturbance and intrusion into private space are unvoidable when living under the same roof or in close proximity. It is just like taking away walls from a house to lay it bare. Often this is the trigger of conflicts.
